Northstar Village

Little did George Schaffer realize 140 years ago that the site of his logging camp would become home to some of North America’s best skiing and riding. Today, boarders and skiers rocket down mile-long runs from the backside of Northstar Resort’s Mt. Pluto or carve off-piste turns through stands of lodge pole from the top of Sawtooth Ridge. While the backside of Northstar Resort offers everything from ridgeline cruising to narrow bump trails and steep drops, the resort’s front side combines lightly forested glades and wide-boulevard groomers that stretch to an expanding base area. Northstar Resort’s family programs are some of the best in North America, but it is the resorts billion-dollar expansion that is creating the most buzz.
The Village at Northstar offers visitors an appealing array of world-class accommodations, shops, restaurants, and skating rink, all with ski-in, ski-out accessibility. New for winter 2009-10, The Ritz-Carlton Highlands, Lake Tahoe will open at mid-mountain at Northstar Resort, featuring a world class spa in addition to the uncompromising ambiance that is Ritz-Carlton.
Summer months, the destination revels with special events and music, roller skating, and outdoor movies. Guests enjoy activities composed of hiking, golf, mountain biking, horseback riding, fly-fishing, and scenic lift rides all in a dog-friendly and family-friendly environment.
